About the Event
“[L]et us leave behind a country better than the one we were left with” ---From Amanda Gorman’s “The Hill We Climb”
To honor Black History Month, join us for a 90 min session that aims to highlight connections between yoga and social justice. The first half includes a heating solar vinyasa flow to prepare you for rest in the latter half of class featuring lunar, supported yoga poses. As the flow moves from solar to lunar, Zainab will weave in inspiring, thoughtful and liberating words from noted Black activists and leaders to honor and celebrate Black voices past, present and future.
Proceeds for this donation class will help The Loveland Foundation, a not for profit organization focused on bringing “opportunity and healing to communities of color, and especially to Black women and girls.” What began as a fundraiser to provide therapy for Black women and girls in 2018 has grown to provide valued resources for so many. For this at-home yoga practice, you'll need a yoga mat, 2 yoga blocks, 1-3 blankets, & 1 yoga bolster or a long pillow.
